Friday Favorites | Kiss and Tell

We’re getting ready to kiss goodbye to 2010 and we’re excited to see all of the exciting chapters that unfold in 2011 for The Wedding Yentas, the beautiful brides who come to enjoy the articles, and all of the talented and professional vendors who visit our little site that could. So, it’s only fitting that our final Friday Favorites of the year is a New Year’s Eve themed gush about making sure your kisser is in tip-top shape for puckering up at midnight!

Not only is your New Year’s kiss important in order to start the year off on the right foot, er, lip, but it’s good practice for your smooch under the chuppah on your wedding day. It’s never too early to rehearse! So make sure you treat your lips with care so that you and your lucky kissing partner will enjoy a fabulous and romantic moment.

Today, we are excited to gush over a product that you should all run out and try. We always recommend practicing with some makeup before your wedding weekend, and coming straight from one of L.A.’s most popular makeup artists, this is one lip product you should include in your makeup collection. Susie Chhuor of Susie Chuuor Professional Hair and Makeup Team offers tips to care for your lips and also her favorite must-have.

Susie, herself, says that MAC Lustreglass is a great product because it’s inexpensive, not too sticky on the lips (no one wants to kiss sticky lips!), and has a great sheer color with light sparkles that work for everyone’s skin tone. It’s not too hard to maintain (like red lipstick or lipstick in general) and, even better, it’s a great moisturizer for your lips. Susie recommends MAC’s color called Love Nectar because the color looks great on all faces and is the perfect bridal hue.

In the time leading up to your wedding, Susie recommends taking care of your puckers just like you’d take care of other parts of your body so that you glow on the big day.

Tips for getting rid of dead skin on lips: Apply Vaseline for about 10 minutes and then use a toothbrush to rub off the excess skin. This will give you smoother lips and easy application for glosses and lipsticks.

And this pretty little gloss can be yours! We’re giving away one tube of MAC Lustreglass in Love Nectar that you can win simply by entering and leaving a comment below.

Tell us about your favorite New Year’s Eve memory or location. Were you at a hotsy-totsy hotel roof top? Or snuggling with your beau in a cabin in the mountains? Maybe you were actually in Times Square to see the ball drop? Did you have a night out with the girls in your cutest (and most painful) pair of heels? It’s time to party like it’s 2011 with the Yentas. You can enter through Sunday at 11:59 p.m. and the winner, selected by, will be announced Monday. You don’t need to be Jewish or a bride in order to win. Good luck and happy New Year!

Although my favor New Year’s Eve happened before I met my now fiance, it still remains one of the best memories I have to bring in another year. I spent my last new year’s in college on the Whitsunday Islands in Australia. I loved that instead of being bundled up and surrounded by snow, that I was in a bathing suit on the beach BBQing with new friends that I had only met a week prior.

My favorite NYE was with my fiance and all of our friends. It was a magical night and we got married later that year!

Favorite New Years was in London. Best people, food, drinks, and ambiance. It was a good party and a good way to start off the year.

  • Gretchen says:

This year, I’m in Mammoth with my beau and his family. I cooked dinner for everyone and now we’re relaxing and staying warm inside. Nothing like a low-key evening to close out the year. :)

Favorite New Year’s Eve by far was spent at home doing karaoke with the family, sipping on Apple Cider and laughing as my mom butchered ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’. Good times…

This year was wonderful! We spent it in Newport with new and old friends. I wore my really really high heels from 5pm to 2:30am so yesterday and today my calf muscles have been S-O-R-E. Oh well! All for the price of beauty! OH and of course the BEST part about this new years was my niece being born!

    Happy new year.
