Kendra Scott Gives You Wedding Day Sparkle

Recently, my friend and fellow wedding junkie, Beverly Harris of Beverly Harris Weddings and Events invited me for a lovely morning of bubbles and baubles! I was in the great company of other high end wedding vendors (a wedding blogger like me was in heaven, talking shop with the real pros!) as we sipped some champy and got googly eyes over stunning Kendra Scott jewelry inside the inviting and delightful Beverly Hills boutique.

Kendra Scott Color Bar

I’ve seen Kendra Scott in magazines and on celebrities, but I’d never personally handled the jewelry, and you guys, it’s gorgeous in person! And oh-so perfect for weddings! I can’t recommend Kendra Scott enough!

There are tons of options for you in store or online ready to go, and they would all make amazing gifts to your loved ones or even yourself (hey! you deserve pretty things, too!), but where I really gushed was the Color Bar.

What’s on tap at the Color Bar? Oh, you know, only the fantastic, high-end jewelry you expect with pretty much a rainbow (sans pot of gold — sorry) of colors to mix and match as you customize your bridal jewelry. YES. Customize. That’s like a bride’s favorite word.

All hail the Color Bar by Kendra Scott. I know this is a web site about Jewish weddings, but do you hear the angels singing?

All hail the Color Bar by Kendra Scott. I know this is a web site about Jewish weddings, but do you hear the angels singing?

I learned how the Color Bar works and was quite impressed with the process and it’s hardly even a “process.” The demonstration consisted of a touch screen, interactive experience! Cool geek overload! You can do this online, too. So, first you pick your style of jewelry. Pick your earrings/bracelet/ring/necklace and decide if you want it in gold or silver. Then choose your color gem. And, in theory, you’re done.

But say the piece you select is a chandelier earring with various spaces for stones. You can design your own pattern or arrangement of colored gems in each space. For example, online just now, I designed an ombre-style pair of chandelier earrings using shades of purple-ish tones. I was able to select the area and then click on the color. I made a few different versions before I settled on this one. See the progression of my build out.

Kendra Scott Color Bar

Cool, right?

Not into an ombre? Fine. You can do it all one color. Or just use two. Or go all Jackson Pollock and splatter color everywhere. No right, no wrong. You’re in control, sister. (Mmmmm. “Control.” Another favorite word for brides.).

I’m a big fan of color. I love colorful things and have a hard time sticking to muted tones. My own wedding was pink and orange with splashes of lime. So, I’m not kidding when I say I love color. But if you’re into black and white or charcoals or even just soft creams, you can still take advantage of the Color Bar and create the piece of jewelry that suits you. It’s all about you! And as it should be! Don’t ever let anyone tell you differently!

Kendra Scott Color Bar

So, when you’re looking for your bridal jewels, think about Kendra Scott! And the price points are absolutely affordable. I must admit I never purchased anything there because I assumed the prices were waaaa-aaaa-aaaay out of my budget and my husband would kill me. But I learned that their pieces are totally in most brides’ budgets so much so that you could probably customize a few pieces of jewelry. You need earrings for your bachelorette party, right? And you want something cute and sparkly to wear to your upcoming shower? Exactly.

Happy coloring with Kendra Scott!

Hi Alison. Thank you for coming to the event. It was great to have so many wonderful industry people and brides come out and enjoy Kendra Scott’s jewelry. Hope to see you at the next one.

GIVEAWAY: Stella & Dot Styles Your Wedding

Here’s the thing: I’m a sucker for service. You could tell me I need a fire juggling elephant on a unicycle and I’d probably buy it if your service was pleasant, knowledgeable, and fun. So when it comes to jewelry — something we all need and want — with fantastic service to educate us about the hottest trends and most stylish pieces, it’s a no brainer to say “I do” to pieces by Stella & Dot!

I’ve been a fan of Stella & Dot since the company started, and I love that I can get beautiful pieces with the help of a personal stylist. My personal stylist, Krystal, is the queen of fashion, beauty, and glam and she’s introduced me to some fabulous jewelry that are some of my favorites in my collection.

Of course I’m always drooling over everything that Stella & Dot creates, but I always look at the collections with a wedding-ish eye. I am so excited to share some of my favorites with you and I can’t wait to hear about your favorites. Make sure to leave a comment below and share our favorites for your chance to win a prize from Krystal and Stella & Dot!

Something blue? With a name like Serenity, these sister pieces are perfect for a wedding day ensemble. Formal looking without breaking the bank, I love how they add a splash of color without upstaging the rest of your bridal look. And yay for being able to wear them again without looking like obvious bridal jewelry.

Serenity Small Stone Pendant and Serenity Small Stone Drops

Wooo!! Party tiiiiime! For your bachelorette party, you’ve got to kick it up a notch! Everyone has a set of classic hoop earrings for a fun night out, but the Goddess Teardrop Earrings have a bit of bling, come in rose gold (the latest trend: Sorry, silver. Sorry, gold.), and challenge the standard hoop with a teardrop shape for high fashion. Whether you’re going out in jeans or you’re wearing a party dress, these are your best bet for a night out on the town. Plus, for your bachelorette party, shouldn’t you let your inner Goddess come out to play?

For brides who want to give their jewelry a shining moment on their wedding day, the Astor Five Strand Necklace is THE way to go. I can totally see this piece adorning a bride who wears a dress with fabulous shape and style, but dims down the dress’s accessorized hardware. So if you’re wearing a gown sans beading and sparkle, I think this is the necklace for you! The pearls keep it bridal-looking, but the pyrite and glass beads modernizes the style. With a necklace like this, your ears would be naked or only sport studs. Hair can be either up or down. Awesomeness is guaranteed.

Giveaway: Currently Loving Clay Bouquet for Sparkles On Your Wedding Day

Enter to WIN over the next two weeks! But first…

So here’s the thing. There are a zillion ways to accessorize for your wedding day. The options can be overwhelming and the prices are all over the place and you drive yourself crazy wondering if they’re high just because they’re “bridal” or because they’re made out of offspring from the Smithsonian’s Hope diamond. So here’s what I’m going to do to make your life easier so you can get back to Pinning. Go to Clay Bouquet — which makes more than just adorned bouquets — and get busy browsing and buying.

Jennifer is the talented arteest (artist, but with a snobby French accent because she’s just that good) behind the creations that will have brides sparkling down the aisle.

If you made me choose just one favorite item in her shop, it would be a very tough decision. It would be like having to decide what tastes better: your bubbie’s perfectly fluffy matzah balls or her homemade rugelach. I mean, that’s just cruel. But since I play by the rules, I will say that I love Clay Bouquet‘s headbands, specifically, the Stunning Golden Rhinestone and Pearl Headband. The delicate piece doesn’t skimp on glam, and the gold hues would definitely look amazing on brunettes (Jewish girls, holla!! Or, um, challah?).

I also really like Michelle – Petite Vintage style Jeweled Ribbon Headband – Something Blue. The reason? Its in the name. Something blue! I meant to do a “something blue” and totally forgot. I can’t believe I forgot. I mean, what was I doing that was more important? Getting married? Psshhh. At the last minute, I realized the Dodgers-themed garter could count as my “something blue,” but I wish I’d put more thought into it and that it was an accessory to my bridal look. So here it is! A dazzling “something blue” that also does a bang-up job of dressing up your hair. Hair can be up, down, half way, swept away — it doesn’t matter. This headband would look amazing.

If you don’t need any bling for your head, perhaps a little sparkle on your dress? Beaded sashes look amazing on wedding dresses, especially if your gown isn’t already detail-heavy. These sashes at the waist are extremely flattering and also add personal style to your bridal ensemble.

Jennifer is able to customize your beaded sash based on your personal stats for sizing. That’s a good thing because, I mean, when was the last time you saw all women with the same exact shape and size? (Okay, those Real Housewives of Wherever don’t count because they all basically bought their bodies). Anyway, point is, Jennifer works with you to make sure you are going to look your best!

Prices are reasonable. Jennifer doesn’t feel like leaving you in wedding debt (Thanks, Jennifer!) and just wants you to see the value in looking pretty! They’re all totally affordable, priced between $30 and $175. Plus, supporting small business is good karma.

Okay, so why is Jennifer’s shop called Clay Bouquet? The beaded hair and dress accessories are not her only talent. Like many handmade artists in the bridal industry, Jennifer’s creations started with her own wedding. After Jennifer tied the knot, everyone in her circle urged her to provide handcrafted bouquets for other brides! These bouquets are unique and special because they’re going to live forever! Brooch bouquets provide all the razzle-dazzle a bride may dream of as she walks down the aisle. Or, if she wants a traditional floral look without the help of Mother Nature, Jennifer sculpts extremely realistic flowers out of clay! She creates them all by hand, including every detail of a flower. She’s happy to add other fancy-shmancy elements like feathers, sentimental objects, pearls, and gems. Matching with wedding colors is a no-brainer, too!

So what are you playing to win today and over the next two weeks? Clay Bouquet is giving away a $25 gift certificate to her store! Just check out Clay Bouquet‘s shop and report back here by leaving a comment and sharing what you would choose if you won the prize!

Entries will be accepted through Monday, July 2nd at 11:59 p.m. PST. Winner is selected at random and announced on Facebook on July 3rd. The $25 gift certificate will never expire, is open worldwide, and is not transferable, not redeemable for cash and cannot be combined with other gift certificates towards one item.

Good luck!

Today, it’s so exciting and inspiring to have Old new borrowed redo™ guest blog all about the perfect Mother’s Day gift ideas since the holiday where we honor our favorite ladies — our moms! — is next Sunday, May 13. Old new borrowed redo™ was a business in the making over the course of Lindsey’s wedding planning, but materialized during a long walk on her honeymoon! While shopping for that perfect gown, Lindsey found herself being asked the same question over and over again: “What are you going to do with your gown after your wedding?” Immediately, she had the answer: “Make pillows for my bedroom.” A few months later, while she was on her honeymoon, Lindsey thought: Why not provide customers with an easy, no-fuss service, where we take their wedding gowns and turn them into fabulous and customized keepsakes? The Martha Stewarts of garments we don’t need anymore provide practical AND sentimental ideas for mom on this Mother’s Day and all special days!

Every year, around the third weekend in April, the two of us, Lindsey and Jennifer, exchange endless emails and numerous phone calls with our older sister, Staci, trying to get an early jumpstart on the obstacle that’s only a few weeks away: what to get our mother for Mother’s Day.

One of us will mention getting her a massage so that she can unwind and forget the stress that comes with having three daughters! However, that idea is quickly dismissed when one of us points out that we got her a massage for her birthday last year. A gift certificate to go shopping is always a perfect present for our mother who loves to shop. But we begin to have second thoughts thinking that it’s not personal enough. And so we, like many of our customers, spend weeks trying to come up with a present for our mom that is truly unique and sentimental and shows just how amazing and special she is to each one of us.
So we are touched when our customers turn to us, Old new borrowed redo™ (ONBR), to create unique and personal keepsakes to gift to those special people in their lives.

Like Sarah, a recent ONBR customer who wanted to turn the bridesmaid dress her aunt wore at her parent’s wedding and turn it into a truly special and unique 25th wedding anniversary present. Sarah envisioned redoing the lavender taffeta bridesmaid dress into a custom pillow and picture frame, adorned with the ruffle around the neck of the dress. She also wanted to embroider her parents’ monogramed initials in silver, symbolizing 25 years of marriage. We were thrilled to make Sarah’s vision a reality. Sarah had a unique and sentimental present to give to her parents on their special day.

And then there’s Kelly, who wanted a special present to give to her brother and sister-in-law upon the arrival of their new daughter, Makayla. Kelly used the scraps from the bridesmaid dress she wore at their wedding to create a personal nameplate that was embroidered with Makayla’s name and date of birth. The bridesmaid dress was also incorporated into the piping along the perimeter of the baby blanket and matching pillow.

Or Lesley, who knew her granddaughters probably would not wear her wedding gown from 35 years ago. Lesley was thrilled to know ONBR could find a way for her dress to walk down the aisle in the form of ring bearer pillows. Lesley now has a way to incorporate the something old and something new for her granddaughters’ weddings.

Former bridesmaids are now finding plenty of ways to recycle those bridesmaid dresses worn at their friend’s weddings. Many are redoing the bridesmaid dresses into baby blankets and gifting to their friends upon the arrival of their first child, like the black and hot pink baby blanket and pillow created for one of our customers.

Our inspiration to redo comes from our own experiences with the dresses sitting in the closets. We counted all the dresses that we had kept throughout the years and the number was astonishing. We surveyed our friends who told us the same.

At ONBR, we believe in transforming our customer’s wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, Bat Mitzvah dresses, prom dresses, and any dress that holds sentimental meaning and redo them into custom keepsakes such as custom pillows, baby blankets, picture frames, and even lingerie. We know that each one of us holds on to dresses because of the sentimental meaning that it has in each one of our lives.
Our custom keepsakes are the perfect unique and personal gift for Mother’s Day, any holiday or just because.

Happy redoing,
Lindsey & Jennifer

Your oh-so fabulous hair accessory from Fascinate Me!

Fascinate Me specializes in handmade fascinators, floral sashes, and birdcage veils for modern brides. Since opening, Fascinate Me has had the honor of being worn by brides all over the world. Joanne, owner and artist of Fascinate Me, began making fascinators when she just couldn’t find the right piece for her own wedding. She enjoyed it so much that she kept making more and eventually decided to open her store.

As we may recall from last year’s royal wedding, “fascinator” is another term for a hair accessory and is the inspiration for the store name. Don’t worry, a fascinator from Fascinate Me won’t have you looking like Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice of York who made “British hats” the talk of the town slash world when all eyes were also on William Pippa and Kate. Major oy veys there.

Now that that’s out of the way and you can take a deep breath knowing you won’t have to find a bigger venue to accommodate your fascinator, let’s gush over some beautiful hair accessories from Fascinate Me that would complement any bride’s individual style.

Must love the variety! There are so many details and variations that can be perfect for a beachy destination bride, a traditional Jewish bride with a bit of flair, and a modern bride who wants a simple birdcage veil.

And each variation is made with beautiful high-quality materials like feathers, lace, and beading. There are even two-pieces fascinators in the event you want to space out the coverage in your hair. And if you have your own idea of what your dream hair accessory should look like, Joanne can customize one for you! She’s just that good. Gosh, I love featuring devoted and talented wedding vendors!

So, good news in all this: YOU CAN WIN A FASCINATE ME FASCINATOR! Sprinkle yourself with a fascinating fascinator on your wedding day, compliments of Joanne, herself! Enter to win a beautiful oversized feather flower fascinator that is approximately 6.0″ in diameter and has a sparkly 1″ rhinestone center. The Gone with the Wind fascinator is made with two luxurious layers of feathers and accented with countless ostrich feathers that give it fun and flirty movement. This little baby will attach securely to your hair via a 1.5″ alligator clip.

You will look so beautiful in your Gone With The Wind fascinator with its feminine and delicate touch! This would seriously go with any style wedding gown! Ball gown, sleek, fit-n-flare, reception dress: it’s perfection! Note: fascinator does not come with the promise of bony shoulders shown on model.

As a recent bride, Joanne can relate to the pressure that a new bride goes through during the wedding planning process. Therefore, she makes every piece as if she is making it for her own wedding.
