Editor’s Note: I was truly honored to be a guest at Abby and Matt’s wedding. I’ve known Abby since we were 16 years old at Jewish sleepaway camp. We remain good friends and enjoy get-togethers every few months. She is the kindest person who has the most positive outlook on life. She is ridiculously smart and equally ridiculously beautiful! Her wedding was stunning and I am so excited to finally be able to share it here! I previewed it just after she got married, and promised the full coverage! Here we are!
Abby and Matt went to high school together and even sat next to each other at graduation. However they didn’t really connect until a mutual friend set them up after college. Their connection grew and they discovered all the reasons why they’re a perfect match. For example, Matt is the oldest of four and Abby is the youngest of three. She says they’re really like yin and yang to each other; he’s the planner; responsible and organized, and she’s the adventurous one; playful and spontaneous.
Their proposal was so romantic and classic! Matt surprised Abby when she came home from work. She came home early that day, but luckily he was ready. He had decorated the entryway of their apartment with tea lights and rose petals and when Abby came home, she found him standing there with a ring box in hand! She was so surprised that she almost forgot to keep coming in the door! Matt held Abby’s hands and got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
The vision for their wedding came together during a year of planning. Abby had always assumed she’d have a summer wedding on the beach or in Santa Barbara… or on the beach in Santa Barbara! However, when they got engaged, winter turned out to be the best time for them to get married due to school and work obligations. All of Abby’s former plans and ideas went out the window and she had to start from scratch. She started casually looking through wedding magazines and fell in love with the color scheme of silver, navy, pink, and black and found their venue and wedding coordinator. With those big decisions made, wedding planning took off! Their wedding planner gave them a list of vendors that she recommended and kept them on track with a schedule of important tasks and dates that they should have them completed by. Slowly but surely, Abby’s original idea of a casual beach wedding shifted to a formal winter fete with mercury glass candles, pastel pink and white flowers, birch wood accents in the chuppah and centerpieces, dimmed lighting, and long navy bridesmaid gowns. And what a fete it was! It was truly the wedding of Abby and Matt’s dreams and a magical evening.

Laurie and Jeff are all smiles in their wedding photos because they’ve found a sugary sweet love that catapulted an amazing day, creating a new family. Laurie’s dreams came true when she married the love of her life and the dentist of her children. The only fillings this group endured on the wedding day was the filling of each person’s heart! They stayed true to Jewish traditions, but put their own twist on the ceremony as it included Laurie’s kids, which really established the root of this brand new family.
The reception featured beautiful details, drenched in sparkling golds and pearly whites, and a very festive group came together to dance the night away. You can fight tooth and nail, but there’s no denying that he and his wife had the best night of their lives.

After a weekend’s worth of posing and smiling and knee popping and arm-on-the-hipping, and sucking in, your body is exhausted from wedding photos. Let’s face it, mugging for your photographer is hard work! Thank goodness you have a honeymoon soon after during which you can relax and forget about all wedding-related items on your must-do list. And while I totally suggest vegging out and letting your brain turn to newlywed mush, here’s something I recommend you do; something I wish I did: A HONEYMOON SHOOT!
BellaEva Photography, based on Maui, submitted this fun and whimsical honeymoon shoot of Caroline and Remi who hammed it up for the camera during their honeymoon. I love the concept of capturing your brand new life together on your first new adventure together. No matter where you go or when, consider a honeymoon photo shoot! All of your professional wedding photos should be stunning because you chose a photographer who knew how to capture you and your personalities through your heavily planned details. However, all of your professional photos will feature you in your wedding costumes and wedding environment. A honeymoon shoot will capture a more relaxed version of yourselves: happy to be on vacation, but looking a little more real-life than the dolled up couple you were on the big day. Especially if you are traveling to a location with beautiful photo opps, you should definitely track down a photographer who can photograph you in your element: in love and celebrating!
Aundrea of BellaEva Photography says:
Who ever said mom knows best was absolutely right in the case of Remi and Caroline, matched up by none other than their two moms! The two love birds came all the way to Maui for their honeymoon shoot and could not have been more ecstatic to be reveling in the Hawaiian sun and beach breeze! Always playful, always smiling, these two spent almost the whole day in front of the lens as if nothing in the world existed besides the two of them and I could not have been happier to have been there to capture it all!

There’s nothing better than a solid name fusion and today’s Real Weddings couple has a good one: Jon + Becky = Jonecky. Jon and Becky are such a fun loving couple who find laughter and light in everything they do. Jonecky, as they’re known, had a wedding day that was no different. It started bright and early with the guys golfing and the ladies starting the beautifying process.
Their Sunday wedding was in the most beautiful garden at Surreybrooke Farm. The location was serene and the weather was gorgeous. After a sweet ceremony under their lovely chuppah built by the groom (with help from the groomsmen!) the group hitched a ride in a school bus (the coolest) to Dutch’s Daughter for their reception! It was a festive and personal party and, most importantly, a perfect representation of them.

Laurenne and David’s spectacular Santa Barbara Jewish Wedding is filled with inspiration — not just as a how-to for an immaculately beautiful wedding, but also a guide to true love. These two are the founders of Bloom2Bloom, a service that donates blooms to community-based organizations that help individuals; those who need a smile that flowers naturally bring. They truly know the meaning of love, compassion, and warmth.
The Spanish style architecture of the famous Bacara resort staged the perfect backdrop for Laurenne’s blush pink bridesmaid dresses. Raspberry-colored flowers enveloped their chuppah, which served as Laurenne and David’s first home together that stood on a cliff, overlooking the Pacific. Their ceremony there went from light to dusk, and they finished with a romantic kiss under the stars!
The reception’s Moroccan-inspired touches were rich in color and textures with a variety sprinkled among the tablescapes: glass mosaic candle votives, pewter silver canisters, and gold dusted chargers all worked in concert to create a lavish yet warm ambiance. The couple danced the night away with their loved ones and it is very clear from B&G Photography’s images that they’ve got a lifetime of love ahead!
